Naturalization Workshop Non-Attorney Volunteer - Fridays, Saturdays

Overview //

Help eligible immigrants apply to become citizens! No foreign language skills or legal background required. This day-long workshop will walk applicants through the process of filling out the naturalization application. A few different opportunities are available for our non-attorney volunteers, from registering all incoming attendees, to working one-on-one with attendees to fill their applications, to helping staff direct and track all attendees. This is a great opportunity for law students and paralegals. Mandatory training for first-time volunteers is provided at the first workshop attended.

Mentor Refugee Youth Across the Diocese

This life-changing youth program helps youngsters achieve their life dreams.

Mentors Needed! MRS is dedicated to providing quality services in helping newly arrived families thrive in their new home country by providing relief, protection, and resettlement services for refugees and victims of oppression or violent conflict through immigration services, housing support, employment services, job readiness training, education, and other services.

We need mentors to help in two areas:

1. Job search support help migrants prepare for job interviews and placement through skill development, resume prep, interview skills, and job search strategies. Looking for one-to-one job coaches.

2. Youth mentors or tutors help young adults (ages 15-24) with tutoring, college prep, navigating college and issues specific to the age group. Mentors should be aged 21 or older. Tutors can be high school aged or older with an adult present. This opportunity will require: Background check Privacy, child, and adult protection training VIRTUS Training Minimum age: 21

Drivers Needed to help refugees - Across the Diocese

Drivers needed!

MRS is dedicated to providing quality services in helping newly arrived families thrive in their new home country by providing relief, protection, and resettlement services for refugees and victims of oppression or violent conflict through employment services, job readiness training, adult education, and immigration services, US healthcare navigation, youth services, and many more state and federal programs. Help current staff assist and manage individuals' or families' social and emotional needs. Tasks may include drafting case studies, performing initial client assessments, and creating summaries and recommendations.

Staff urgently need your help delivering baby supplies, papers requiring signatures, small items, furniture, and some clients to appointments. Our staff spends most of their time delivering supplies and is looking for help to free up time to provide direct support to our clients.

May drive personal vehicle or agency vehicle.
Driving authorization is required. A valid Driver's license and three years of driving history are necessary.

The Mother of Mercy Clinic provides free, quality healthcare to low-income individuals who are uninsured or under-insured. The clinics have ongoing needs for volunteers in a variety of roles:

Alexandria Food Pantry Volunteer

Join us to encounter and assist our clients during our food pantry distribution. Volunteers will directly support clients, and support our pantry operations with sorting, stocking and unloading food donations.

Volunteer Coordinator

Overview //

The Volunteer Coordinator supports the St. Lucy Food Project (SLP) at the Alexandria Regional Office by recruiting and manage volunteers to assist with the daily operations of the food pantry. The coordinator also provides administrative support to the Emergency Assistance (EA) program. This position ensures volunteers have a positive experience and contributes effectively to both ministries.

Position Responsibilities:

·Recruit, train and manage volunteers to safely support the food pantry operations.

·Post volunteer opportunities as needed for on the CCDA website and conduct phone screenings to assess and evaluate potential volunteers.

·Maintain Samaritan volunteer database, track volunteer hours, and follow up on background checks.

·Conduct onboarding for new volunteers, including CCDA and SLP mission, training on responsibilities and roles, St. Lucy code of conduct, policies, operational procedures, and safety protocols.

·Publish weekly/monthly volunteer schedule using Excel ensuring all shifts are covered.

·Establish collaborative relationships with interested parties and supervise volunteer groups.

·Serve as a point of contact for volunteer related inquiries and send important communications to volunteers as needed.



Other Duties:

·Recognize and celebrate contributions of volunteers. Assist the Pantry Manager with volunteer social events and printing volunteer certificates.

· Interact cordially with staff, donors, volunteers, and community partners creating a welcoming environment for all stakeholders.

·Provide Pantry Manager and EA Program Director with volunteer hours for monthly reporting.



Qualifications & Skills:

·Proficient in Microsoft Windows: Outlook, Excel, Word, and database management.

·Excellent listening skills to adapt to volunteers with varying levels of experience.

·Agree to background check.

·Effective verbal and written communication skills.

·Highly organized with excellent attention to detail.

Education and Experience:

·High school diploma or equivalent required. Associates degree preferred.

·Experience in customer service and collaborating with volunteers a plus.


Physical Demands:

· Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
·Able to stand, walk, use hands and fingers for computer tasks, and handle bags of food; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. Required to stoop, kneel, or crouch and climb a ladder.
