Assist with Meals (MDC) - Men's Development Center

We serve three meals a day, 365-days per year, at all three facilities. What an opportunity to encourage and uplift as you hand meal trays to our clients. Individual volunteers or small groups are scheduled on an ongoing or one-time basis. Volunteers help set-up - which may include tasks such as prepping veggies, making sack lunches or organizing the pantry - serve and clean-up.

This is a group opportunity and the maximum number of volunteers per meal at the Cornerstone Community Women & Family Development Center is four (4).

Available Weekends - Volunteer Shifts:

Breakfast: 7:00 AM - 9:30 AM Saturday ONLY
Lunch: 11:30 AM - 2:00 PM (Friday - Sunday)
Dinner: 4:30 PM - 7:00 PM (Friday - Sunday)


All volunteers must be in high school or older. Students must be accompanied by an adult throughout the entire project.

Make a difference in the lives of Houston's homeless single women and families at the Cornerstone Community Women & Family Development Center!

We serve three meals a day, 365-days per year, at each Star of Hope campus. What an opportunity to encourage & uplift as you hand meal trays to our clients. Host Snacks & Goodnight (WFDC) - Cornerstone Community

Make a difference in the lives of Houston's homeless single women & families at the Women & Family Development Center at Star of Hope's Cornerstone Community!

Who doesn't love an evening snack? It can be a long time between dinner & breakfast when you can't raid the fridge for a snack. Volunteers have a wonderful time visiting with clients as they provide & serve an evening snack.

Volunteers arrive between 7:15 PM - 7:30 PM to sign-in, walk to the dining room and set-up. Clients are invited to come by for a snack beginning at 7:45 PM. Snack time is over at 8:15 PM. Volunteers help sweep-up & sign-out by 8:30 PM.

Snacks and beverages are provided to residents only Thursday through Sunday. Please view Calendar for availability

Volunteers will serve both the families and single women who reside at the Women & Family Development Center. Please provide snacks for up to 260 residents.

This opportunity is only available for groups & requires a designated group leader. Once the group leader signs-up for a certain date, he/she will receive a separate email that contains a private link for group members to register.

The maximum number of volunteers for this project is five (5).

Men's Welcome Bags - Men's Development Center

Our men need the same hygiene and toiletry items that we use when dressing each day. You might even want to include a scripture card or Note of Encouragement!

Major Responsibilities:
In a gallonn ziploc bag or guft bag place the following items
-Deoddorant
-Tooth Paste/Tooth Brush
-Lotion (Full Size)
-Shampoo (Full Size)
-Face towels
-Floss
-Socks
-Chapstick

We also ask that all the bags be consistent in contents. Colors can vary, but we ask that the bags have the same items as not to make anyone feel left out if they do not get a certain item.

Prepare Hope Bags that meet immediate, daily needs of the men, women and children of our city. Together giving hope and ending homelesssness one life, one family at a time.

Major Responsibilities:
Assemble hygiene, toiletry or snack packages in Ziploc bags
Include a Bible verse or a Note/Card of Encouragement
See the latest Ongoing and Urgent list on website
Schedule drop off date
Deliver items at facility

VIP - Infant & Toddler Birthday Celebration - Cornerstone Community

Make a difference in the lives of Houston's homeless children at the Women & Family Development Center at Star of Hope's Cornerstone Community! Host a Birthday Celebration for the infants and toddlers at Women & Family Development Center! Invite family and friends to join in the fun!

Major Responsibilities:
Provide the supplies needed for a Birthday Celebration!
Provide 2 3 dozen cupcakes
Provide decorations for a birthday celebration
Provide gift bags for the children celebrating a birthday
Each gift bag valued at $15 (typically 4-5 children per month)
