Get your day off to a great start! Bring your family, your friends or your coworkers to the DI to serve the most important meal of the day for the 600 guests we serve each morning. This opportunity will brighten your day!
Start your morning by volunteering with other community-minded individuals who love giving back! Serving a meal is a great way to be someone for Calgarians who are experiencing homelessness.
Sponsoring breakfast ensures that guests of the DI start their morning with a hot, hearty breakfast rather than our standard cold offering. Add to the sponsorship a volunteer opportunity to serve as a team, and you can leave a lasting positive impact on one another and the guests you serve. Providing support through a warm smile, nutritious meal and community service makes Calgary stronger. Please note, your sponsored meal and volunteer dates may be on two separate days. Sponsorship Cost $1000
Clothing Room Volunteers allow Calgarians impacted by homelessness to benefit from the constant flow of apparel donations the Calgary Drop-In & Rehab Centre receives from the community. By helping to stock our Free Clothing Store, they ensure our clients are able to stay warm and dry. These volunteers thrive on turning chaos into order. They are organized, efficient, and don't mind a little bit of heavy lifting.
In an emergency situation she needs immediate access to the warmth and comfort of clean dry fitting clothes, another is preparing to go to work tomorrow and a young man is going to meet a loved one that afternoon. Wool socks, 32 x 32 jeans, to-go-cups, a suitcoat or size 8.5 workboots. You will be organizing the donations of clothing apparel and day-to-day equipment from generous Calgarians for those who access the clothing room.
Donation Centre (NE Location) Door Greeter is a high-level role which involves greeting and answering the main doorbell and triaging community members that come to the Donation Centre. These may be fellow volunteers, Move-Out Program clients or donors.
The role of the Donation Centre Move-Out Program volunteer is to provide support with donation intake, inventory, data collection and item distribution among clients in need. You will see directly how this program will change lives.
Did you know that the Drop-In's Donation Centre serves as a hub for a variety of needs of both DI guests and Calgarians receiving support from a variety of non-profits throughout the city? Unlike our other volunteer opportunities, the Donation Centre is perfect for all ages. You and your group will sort through community donations and ensure that vulnerable Calgarians get the items needed for a chance to break the cycle of homelessness.
