While Project HOPE has been deploying medical and WASH (water and sanitation hygiene) volunteers to staff mobile medical units since just after Hurricane Maria struck Puerto Rico, we are transitioning from a response to a recovery phase. As such, we will discontinue sending volunteers for the mobile medical units after December 31st. As we work to address priority health concerns, in the new year we will focus primarily on the issues of mental health and diabetes/hypertension. We are interested in reviewing volunteer profiles for applicants with expertise in these areas. Spanish speaking skills will continue to be an important qualification.
